What are wild swimming socks?
Why choose our socks & gloves?
We specifically designed our products for wild swimming in the UK. We use 5mm neoprene on the sole of the sock for maximum comfort while entering & exiting the water from a beach or lido. The rest of the sock & our gloves use a 3mm neoprene for maximum movement and comfort while swimming. We also have an elastic support to keep the product in place & allow easy removal after your swim.
What is limestone neoprene?
We love wild swimming, and we love the ocean. So we set out to create a great quality product that reduces the impact that neoprene manufacturing has on the planet. Limestone neoprene is considerably greener than traditional neoprene manufacturing which uses crude oil and petrochemicals. The process of turning limestone into neoprene uses less energy than oil-based neoprene, and in not using oil at all, takes away the risk of oil spills in its production.
On top of these green advantages the final limestone product is better quality. Our socks benefit from:
- Better insulation in the water – 95% water impermeable compared to 70% for standard petroleum neoprene. Which is especially importing when wild swimming in the UK;
- Increased stretch – for improved fit and comfort of your socks. Limestone neoprene has better stretch memory, so it fits to your feet like a second skin. This is also helpful when taking your socks off after a cold dip;
- Longer lasting – generally lasts 2-3 times longer than oil-based neoprene; and
- Lightweight – the structure of limestone neoprene involves cells filled with nitrogen which reduces the weight of the neoprene and creates a really warm barrier between you and the water.
